The North Carolina Association of Pharmacists (NCAP) is proud to celebrate 25 years of unified advocacy for pharmacists across our state—and we invite you to be a part of our continued progress by supporting the NCAP 25th Anniversary Advocacy Fundraiser!

2025 has been a historical year for passing pharmacy legislation. This year, bills were passed that help bring much-needed PBM reform, allow for pharmacists to treat flu, and that amend the insurance statutes to clearly identify pharmacists as healthcare providers and require health plans to pay for pharmacist-provided healthcare services. In addition, past collaborative practice statutes were modernized to greatly diminish barriers to care and allow for expansion of collaborative practice in all healthcare settings. Yes, all this was truly amazing, but our work is not finished! The passing of legislation is just the first step. We still have work to do on the enactment side with DHHS, Medicaid, commercial health plans, the State Health Plan, the Department of Justice, and the Department of Insurance. Our Advocacy Fund needs your donations to support this ongoing work. Pharmacy is Stronger, Together! We are setting a goal to raise $25,000 between now and the end of 2025. NCAP is currently celebrating 25 years of unification. Please give whatever you can to help us with our essential work. Together we can easily meet this goal.

This milestone fundraiser will directly support NCAP’s grassroots advocacy efforts, ensuring we can continue to champion policies that empower pharmacists, protect patients, and strengthen our healthcare system. Your support will help us drive legislative progress on several key priorities:

🔹 Modernizing Collaborative Practice
While North Carolina was a leader in enacting collaborative practice authority in 1998, our current law is now one of the most restrictive in the country. We're advocating for a modernized statute that allows population health approaches, broader referrals, and collaboration with nurse practitioners and physician assistants.

🔹 Payment for Pharmacist-Provided Services
Pharmacists deserve fair reimbursement for clinical services they are trained and authorized to provide—including chronic disease management, CLIA-waived testing, and medication therapy management. We're fighting to ensure pharmacists are paid like other healthcare professionals.

🔹 Reforming Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBMs)
Unfair PBM practices hurt pharmacies and patients. NCAP continues to lead the charge against clawback fees, under-reimbursement, and patient steering. PBM reform remains a top priority.

🔹 Test and Treat Authority
We're pushing for legislation that allows pharmacists to test and treat minor, non-chronic conditions based on clinical guidelines—expanding access to care and improving public health outcomes across the state.
