Friends, since my birthday this year (45!) I have been working on a big project and I would so appreciate your help and support.

I am planning to run a half-marathon on January 14 in Phoenix. Since I began by jogging a maximum of two miles a day on an old walking treadmill, this is a BIG challenge to take on over the next few months. I continue to run very slowly and often do 4 minutes jogging, 1 minute walking, but I plan to do it any way I can.

Here’s where you come in – 15 years ago I did my first half marathon. This time around, I am doing this to raise money for another cause that is very close to my heart.

My hope is to raise money for Guadalupe Montessori School. Guadalupe Montessori School was founded in 1979 and serves children from 18 months to 12 years old with a high-quality Montessori education in a peaceful, supporting learning environment. As a small school, we need all the help we can get to function and my goal is big. I'm hoping to raise $13,100!

Guadalupe Montessori School is the school my children have attended and where I serve as a Board Member.

I hope you will join me to support GMS and other places where children can explore nature, play, learn and find non-violent solutions to problems. Using a Montessori approach, GMS guides children to care for each other and the world around them. My strong belief is that caring for each other and creating healthy communities where we learn to watch out for each other – including stepping up to help when someone needs it-- is one of our best tools to preventing violence.
