Neuro-Somatic Integration (NSI) Training Program

Untreated trauma is one of the most pressing public health issues of our time. Developmental trauma, in particular, lies at the root of much of the illness, violence, and incarceration in the United States. Communities of color are disproportionately affected, with trauma often going unresolved due to limited access to mental health resources. The consequences—ranging from child maltreatment and neglect to systemic cycles of dysregulation—cost society between $80 billion and $124 billion annually in medical care, lost productivity, and criminal justice involvement.

At the International Institute of Healing and Cultural Arts (IIHCA), we have created a groundbreaking solution: Neuro-Somatic Integration (NSI). This trauma-healing protocol is specifically designed to serve Black and Brown communities. The NSI program integrates intergenerational and epigenetic trauma studies with cutting-edge somatic practices, equipping students with the tools to heal themselves and others.

About the Program

Our 500-hour certificate program includes:

12 in-person, 4-day intensive modules
Virtual integration sessions between modules
A curriculum rooted in the neurobiology of trauma, Structural Integration, and safe, appropriate touch
Examining the history intergenerational trauma is made of

Students will gain:

A deep understanding of how trauma is stored in the body
Practical skills to address trauma in others
Profound self-awareness and healing
Tools to serve their communities through somatic therapy

Upon completion, students will:

Provide 100 hours of community service
Be eligible to sit for the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork exam
Be fully prepared to open a trauma-informed practice in their communities

Target Impact

Our students are recruited from underserved Black and Brown communities on both coasts—including New York City, San Diego, Tulsa, Mississippi, and beyond. These are precisely the neighborhoods where this work is most urgently needed—and where its impact will be greatest.

Program Logistics & Budget

The NSI training is held in Barbados, New York, and San Diego.

Full tuition: $20,000 per student (travel excluded)

Full Program Travel and Accommodation per student $10,000
Two-year program budget for 12 students: $150,000 (includes instruction, staff, transportation, lodging, meals, and classroom space)

To launch a smaller cohort:

We need a minimum of $120,000 to run the program with six students, with students covering their own travel costs
We urgently seek sponsorships for three additional students to meet this minimum

We are fully prepared to facilitate either model and have identified several outstanding applicants. However, these talented individuals from low-income backgrounds cannot afford the cost of attendance—and that is precisely why this work must reach them.
