Bedford County Horses

On April 22, 2024, 26 equines were seized by Bedford County Animal Control from a pasture approximately 5 acres in size after receiving a probable cause statement from the Tennessee Dept of Agriculture. 25 Tennessee Walking Horses aged from days to 20 years were part of the seizure with an additional pony, all belonging to one owner.

The expenses have already amounted to over $1,000 with only one vet call and this is just the beginning. These animals will require a long rehabilitation period and the mares and foals will not be adoptable until the foals have weaned, which means we are looking at 8-12 months of expenses.

Added July 24, 2024  The case has been adjudicated! The plea agreement required the horses be relinquished, but only requires half of the restitution be paid. And that can be spread out over YEARS! We have invested over $11,000 in the horses that were placed with VEA! Please help us continue our mission!
