Happy Birthday, Chive Charities!

For 13 years, there have been moments when it felt like everything might fall apart. During the pandemic, when fear and isolation were everywhere, we worried Chive Charities wouldn’t survive. Instead, something remarkable happened — this community rallied. You showed up for each other, and our impact didn’t just continue, it grew.

Our roots are in showing up for someone when their world is falling apart. You did it for two of our earliest recipients, David Cosner and Griffin Stein. David, fighting a brutal, rare lung disease, inspired with his courage. Griffin, born with no eyes due to his rare condition, motivated you to give, allowing us to fund our very first wheelchair-accessible van and even help rebuild his family’s home.

When we lost both of them within days of each other, it felt like the light had gone out — until we realized you were carrying it forward. Hundreds of new donors stepped up because of their stories, creating a ripple effect that has helped raise over $500,000 for future recipients.

But today, the need is overwhelming. Requests for critical aid have grown so quickly that we’ve had to pause applications just to catch up. Rising costs, shrinking resources, and a strained healthcare system have made life harder than ever for the Veterans, first responders, and rare medical families we serve.

It’s our 13th birthday, and we need this community again.
