Nutmeg - HeartsRGolden Fund

Nutmeg is the sweetest little girl you could have the pleasure of meeting. This past weekend Nutmeg suffered a medical emergency, being diagnosed with pyometra, which is a life threatening infection of the uterus.

She was relinquished by the owner so the vets could perform emergency surgery to save her.

GRRA was notified of the situation by a rescue friend, and we jumped in to give any assistance needed!   As it happened, Nutmeg needed a breed specific rescue to step up and take care of her and her medical costs, and without hesitation, GRRA was there for Nutmeg.  Nutmeg was prepped for surgery before we even knew, and the vets took amazing care of her. She is a true fighter and came through the surgery well, and spent the weekend taking it very easy.

Tuesday Nutmeg was cleared for release, so our wonderful transporter made sure Nutmeg traveled comfortably and safely into our loving hands.   Nutmeg should make a full recovery and be ready to run, play and enjoy life in another 14 days.

Nutmeg would have died if she had not received immediate emergency surgery.

This is a huge success for GRRA and Nutmeg, and it shows what can be accomplished when rescues work together for the good of the animals, and when amazing vets are there at the drop of a hat to help.

Please welcome Nutmeg into the arms of GRRA, and if you can, please donate to help cover her costs. You never know when our next emergency will need us.

Nutmeg says please and thank you!
