At Open Door Exchange, we believe that everyone deserves a furnished home. As the first and only furniture bank on Long Island, we collect gently used essential furniture and provide it, free of charge, to individuals and families who are transitioning out of homelessness and into stable housing.

Your donation helps us serve single parents, veterans, survivors of domestic violence, young adults aging out of foster care, and so many others rebuilding their lives. Every dollar given goes directly toward our mission and providing a welcoming experience for each client we serve.

Since 2015, Open Door Exchange has diverted over 1.1 million pounds of furniture from Long Island’s landfills, keeping still-useful items out of the waste stream and giving them a new life in someone’s home. As we grow, we are committed to expanding our efforts toward a greener, more sustainable Long Island, offering new ways to reduce waste and protect our environment.
