My name is William Wilson, and I have the honor of serving as President of the Outdoor Equity Alliance. In just two years, OEA has grown from borrowed spaces and big dreams into a fully independent nonprofit with staffed programs, a home on West State Street in Trenton, and a growing impact across Mercer County.

In 2025, we trained youth as Tree Ambassadors, expanded City Roots in urban agriculture, launched our first conservation fellowship, engaged more than 80 volunteers, built strong partnerships, and delivered every major goal in our Year One Strategic Plan. Every one of these milestones represents a young person gaining opportunity and a neighborhood becoming stronger, greener, and more resilient.

As we enter 2026, OEA is poised to expand youth stipends, deepen conservation and agriculture programs, launch Trenton’s first Community Earth Day, plant 500 new street trees with NJ Tree Foundation, increase volunteer engagement, and continue growing our work across Mercer County. To sustain this momentum, especially as major federal funding cycles end, we need supporters who believe in youth, community, and environmental equity.

Grants help fuel our programs, but community support is what keeps OEA strong, stable, and responsive, especially as national funding landscapes shift. Your contribution directly powers the programs our young people and our neighborhoods depend on.

Here’s what your support makes possible:

$500 — Support a Student Stipend
- Contributes toward student programming, supporting paid conservation experiences that build skills, confidence, and leadership.

$250 — Support a Neighborhood Project
- Equips volunteer stewards with the tools and supplies needed to restore streets, plant trees, build gardens, and strengthen our most impacted neighborhoods.

$100 — Support a Tree a Tree Planting
- Provides mulch, stakes, and essential care for newly planted street trees, bringing shade and relief to the hottest blocks in our community.

$50 — Support Urban Gardens & Food Resilience
- Supplies soil, seedlings, and raised-bed materials that help youth and families grow nutritious food, build gardening skills, and sustain local green spaces.

$25 — Support a Young Conservationist
- Covers essential gear, water bottles, snacks, and transportation support for youth participating in OEA’s conservation and outdoor leadership programs.
