We are accepting donations that will be used to purchase medicine and medical supplies for our brigades in Honduras. None of the donation funds will be used to support the travel of volunteers, everything will be used to medicine and supplies and all services and medications are provided free to the people in the rural Honduran villages we serve.

Honduras Health Horizons (H3) arose from a study abroad program at SUNY Fredonia where students assisted in medical brigades in rural communities while being mentored by health care professionals and others from Honduras and the US.

The following are the objectives of our nonprofit’s work.

1. Health care to those in need: H3 collaborates with Honduran organizations to provide primary care medical brigades to villagers in rural communities. Each trip provides care to 600-700 patients in 4 villages. All of the participants from the states pay their own expenses for the trips, fundraising is not used to pay for expenses of the US participants.

2. Volunteer experiences: Individuals who have participated in the H3 and SUNY Fredonia study abroad programs have stated the experiences have greatly impacted their lives. These experiences are particularly influential towards students and young adults determining the path of their future career, building necessary connections, and furthering their skills.

3. Pay for Hondurans: We hire Honduran physicians, pharmacists, interpreters, security, and others. While we are there, cooks, cleaners, and staff. We have had young Hondurans assist with the brigades as well. The income to our Honduran colleagues is needed given the widespread poverty and lack of economic opportunities in the country.

4. Support for children living at the site where we stay: We stay at Nuevo Paraiso and there are over 100 children living there under the care of Sociedad Amigos de los Ninos (SAN), we interact with them and have a fun event (pinata party or bingo night) with them before we depart for the States.
