Our neighborhood families are struggling. Many of the families with children at Oak Grove Elementary School rely on SNAP benefits to supplement their income and purchase healthy food. A concerned neighbor has begun a fundraising drive to raise money to purchase gift cards to Walmart. Our initial focus is the thirty families receiving free groceries through the "backpack buddies" program at Oak Grove Elementary School. We would like to raise $3,000 so we can get each family a $100 gift card. If we raise above this amount, we will provide the remaining gift cards to the school counselors for them to distribute as needed. 

Dandelion House is a neighborhood nonprofit in Oak Grove that has offered to host this fundraiser. The advantage of gifting the money through this platform is that you will receive a tax receipt in January which you can use to claim a tax deduction.
