Help Us Heal Black Women Survivors Across the U.S.
What started as an annual Iowa-based healing event for 50 women during Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM) is transforming into a national gathering for hundreds of Black women survivors. In October 2026, in Chicago, Illinois, we will host a full-day event led by Black women healers from across the country—a sacred space of awareness, education, empowerment, and healing. Together, we will send survivors home restored, connected, and stronger than when they arrived.
Courageous Access was founded by Courageous Fire, CHW, a Black woman and survivor of domestic violence. She knows firsthand why Black women and their children deserve more than survival—because she’s lived it. After escaping abuse, she poured her life into researching solutions and building safer, healthier futures—not just for herself and her children, but for Black women across the United States.
The bridges she built for her own healing have now become programs, events, and national support networks. In Iowa, Missouri, Texas, New York, Ohio, Illinois, Alabama, and Puerto Rico, her work has already:
Helped women achieve an 80% success rate in avoiding future predatory relationships
Created youth programs that increase awareness, prevent teen dating violence, and empower parents to protect their children
Fostered community and healing spaces that remind survivors they are never alone
Now, we are expanding.
But we cannot do this without you.
Our annual fundraising goal is $150,000. These dollars directly support:
Staffing and operational needs so our grassroots organization can continue building state-specific resources for Black women across the U.S.
Any overflow funds will allow us to respond directly to Black women in crisis, whether individually or in communities impacted by current events. Many Black women do not yet identify as survivors of domestic violence, but our commitment is to meet them with support regardless—because healing is for all of us.
At Courageous Access, we believe that to lengthen life spans and improve health outcomes for Black women before, during, and after domestic violence, sexual violence, or family violence, we must address trauma in body, mind, and spirit.
This is where you come in. With your generous support, we can take this life-saving mission to the next level in 2026 and beyond.
We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit—your gift is tax-deductible, and it directly fuels healing, safety, and empowerment for Black women survivors.
