The Omi Women Project

In recent metro Atlanta events, there were several reports of systematic failures in water main breaks that impacted dozens of hundreds of its residents. Atlanta’s mayor declared “a state of emergency” and proposed a boil water advisory, which was a predictable response to a preventable problem. Old water pipes have often been connected to dozens of studies from scientists that found hundreds of contaminants that pose a significant health risk across the U.S. Surprisingly, these contaminant levels are perfectly legal within our current water regulations’ policy. Until water regulations are strengthened, the Omi Women Project aims to assist Black women in managing “self-health” solutions to protect their families with access to safe drinking water, often accessible by tap. Your partnering support will help make a difference in the following ways: how many water kits and filters we can distribute, and the frequency of the educational and wellness services provided.
