One Mission Cambridge is a non-profit organization formed by a coalition of Christian churches to provide a food pantry, resource center, and counseling services to the vulnerable population of Dorchester County, Maryland. We also serve monthly community meals and offer our mission center for respite, fellowship, refreshments, and hot lunches.

Cambridge, Maryland, for those who don't know much about our beloved community, has a tumultuous, legendary, and long history that has culminated in a diverse, beautiful, and struggling community. From being one of the first English settlements in 1684, to claiming the birthplace of Harriet Tubman in 1822, to leading the Eastern Shore industrial boom in the early 20th century, to experiencing the very real impacts of the Civil Rights Movement in the 1960s, Cambridge has seen sweeping highs and crushing lows. Currently, according the the US Census Bureau, the percentage of people living below the poverty line in our community is 22.3% which is exponentially higher than the national average of 11.5% and the state average of 9.6%. That is a whopping 2,950 people in Cambridge struggling to get by, day to day.

Our organization and the churches that spearhead our efforts are called to assist these folks and improve our community one household at a time. Our overarching goals at One Mission Cambridge is to encourage hope and wellness in our clients by creating an atmosphere of safety, spirituality, and friendship, and to provide vital physical resources to improve the daily lives of our clients. Since our doors opened in June 2022, we have had the privilege of feeding nearly 350 households monthly.

New clients pass through our doors every single week and we are close to overwhelming our capabilities. In order to serve our community to the best of our abilities, we need to expand our mission center. Our new space will include an enlarged cafe-style area for folks to relax, rejuvenate, and enjoy a sense of peace and security off the street. We will also feature a community meeting area for social services, health department checkups, and other government services and support groups. The important adddition of a private office for client onboarding and one-on-one counseling is also necessary for the trust and comfort of our guests. With dedicated space available for our navigational and counseling services, we will have more room to expand our food pantry and welcome even more neighbors in need.
