For two years Headstrong Girls’ Boxing has been working to encourage confidence and foster improved mental, emotional, and physical well-being by providing girls free access to boxing training and mentorship. We are currently in the middle of our fourth semester of weekly classes at Montopolis Recreation Center, had a jam-packed summer session offering over $1,200 in Summer Camp scholarships, and awarded our first scholarship-supported free membership to Austin Women's Boxing Club!

More and more girls are excited to attend boxing classes in the communities where they live, and returning students are ready to take the next steps in their training! You know what they need right now? MORE COACHES!

The One-Two Punch Student Impact

Hiring more coaches to grow our already spectacular roster has a real One-Two Punch effect on multiplying the number of students that Headstrong Girls’ Boxing is able to serve. For each coach that is hired, 8 more students can participate in one of our programs, workshops, or Summer Camp!

Shoutout to all our current and former Headstrong Girls’ Boxing coaches: Sam Talamantes, Stephanie Barraza, Nicole Trevino, Palla Lentz, Valerie Wells, Julia Gschwind, and Alex Plichta! The organization and amazing classes would not happen without you, your experience, your passion, and your mentorship!

In addition to creating this opportunity for more teen girls in Austin, hiring more coaches also offers a One-Two Punch in offering returning students the chance to further their training. One of our goals for 2024 is to develop a group of 5-10 students to focus on more advanced skills and practice. It’s a chance for teen girls to progress, stay inspired, and continue to grow. We can’t do this for them without additional coaches.

Fundraising and Hiring Goal

We are fundraising with a goal of $12,000 to hire at least two new coaches that can teach at least one class a week, and enable us to offer classes at other locations with other partners. We’re also looking to hire a head coach to both teach and provide leadership and administrative support. With this hiring, we will be able to serve 24 more teen girls in 2024, and start an advanced skills team program!

$12,000 is a lot for Headstrong Girls’ Boxing and will double our budget from 2023 to 2024. We have been able to do a lot with a little, and every dollar counts as your donations are stretched to their limit to the benefit of students and coaches. We’ve established a solid foundation over the last two years, and we’re ready to come out swinging in 2024!

Give what you can to support middle and high school girls ages 12-18 looking for a healthy outlet to blow off steam, manage their stress, and be part of a supportive and powerful community. Headstrong Girls’ Boxing provides a place for the girls who might not normally participate in team sports or regular exercise a way to get physically fit and be a part of a community in a safe, unique, fun, and empowering environment.
