Give the Gift of Inspiration for GivingTuesday

Help Bring Performing Art Classes to Low income families, underserved communities, and at risk youth.

DKA provides performing art classes to underserved populations grappling with serious life challenges, e.g. mental health issues like peer pressure, addiction, incarceration, low income, foster family, and youth with PTSD.

Our approach offers a way of empowering youth through pre-adulthood and emotional challenges using dance and leadership as the guide.

This year has been hard for all of us. It required us to think outside the box, develop new ideas, and rapidly shift directions. In doing so, we’ve discovered new possibilities for our work.

In 2020 we successfully opened the first and only performing arts academy in South east Bakersfield, Ca. We can now connect with alike communities across the world. The academy enabled us to reach some of the most vulnerable communities this year—overwhelmed students, children learning at home, isolated teens, and at risk youth.

In 2023, we will continue this momentum, utilizing performing arts to offer:

• Beginners, Advanced and Master classes for youth girls and boys through various disciplines.

• Hip Hop Dance, Majorette, Cheer, Musical Dance Theatre and Street dance (krump, clowning etc.)

• $0 - Low Cost Memberships

• Bi- Weekly Youth Empowerment Sessions presented by ShePower Leadership Academy.

While we’ve continued to adapt our offerings and reach new communities, we have not been able to provide the proper equipment offered in a traditional dance studio and have therefore lost sorely-needed youth. This is where you come in.

We are asking for your support at this time, so that we can continue to make performing arts accessible to those who need it most.

Dance has helped us through this time of chaos and offering this gift to others is so meaningful. We are asking today if you will support DAT Krew Academy Project by contributing to this GivingTuesday campaign.

PLEASE HELP US SPREAD THE WORD

DAT Krew Academy is dedicated to helping underserved youth overcome physical, mental, and emotional challenges by connecting mind, body, and spirit through the power of art.

Using creative dance techniques, participants learn how to utilize their body as a resource to release stress, anxiety, and/or depression, overcome challenging personal situations, and create space for joy, fun, and healthier behaviors.

We've repeatedly witnessed how dance can transform lives, which is why we hope to bring this work further out into all communities!
