Every year, 400,000 tons of organics are lost to Omaha’s landfills, and 4 million tons of nitrate-producing fertilizer are used in Nebraska. This poisons our air, soil, and drinking water.

But there’s a better way.

The Hillside Foundation, a 501(c)(3) Designated Fund under Midlands Community Foundation, is an organization building an equitable composting movement—supporting farmers, schools, and underserved communities who’ve been excluded from sustainable practices for far too long.
