We are raising our year-end goal due to the incredible generosity of the community and a recent anonymous donor to $10,000!

The extra money we raise will go towards empowerment stipends- compensating unhoused volunteers who run the weekly Farm to Stoop free market and clothing closet, able to do their work in a trauma-informed environment where harm reduction (for religious types, read grace) is a governing value, and to hire a QPOC as coordinating staff.

North Ave Mission is a fellowship of people experiencing street homelessness, those with lived experiences of street homelessness, people who are food and housing insecure, people who use drugs and people in recovery, those living with addiction and lived experiences of addiction, disability, and mental illness, along with their friends and supporters, in Station North, Baltimore. Elders and youngers, TLGBQ+, nonbinary, and straight, we come together to hear and know that we are children of God. Centering the leadership and following the visions of those most impacted by structural racism, the war on drugs, discrimination and stigma, and the lack of fair housing and a living wage, we walk together as we advocate for justice and dignity and care for our community.

At North Ave Mission directly impacted leaders, accompanied and supported by friends and neighbors, and assisted by an amazing network of partners, care for a vulnerable community--feeding neighbors; running their outdoor clothing closet; connecting people to resources--and create an outdoor space of worship and self-expression, bringing stability, friendship, and joy to a vulnerable community. We practice mutual aid in many ways and on many levels. We are grounded in God's grace and fed by hope.

RED SHED VILLAGE

Surrounding the work of providing essential services and outreach are larger goals: fighting for community justice; reducing harm and increasing empowerment; healing in community; leadership development; and running Red Shed Village, an intentional, healing community set in a community garden in Station North where four people find safer shelter and a robust supportive network. North Ave Mission has been operating Red Shed Village in Station North, Baltimore, since April 14, 2020. It is an example of the powerful things that can happen when the dreams and visions of those most impacted by the sins of our society are at the center and drive all efforts. On a recent visit, Councilmember Zeke Cohen called the Village "revolutionary for the city of Baltimore."

In everything, our work is to center the people who have been on the underside of power, lift up their voices, and honor their truths; and create a sacred space where we can bless each other and heal as a people.
