Nearly half of Haiti’s population, 5.4 million people, struggle to find enough to eat, with children suffering from chronic malnutrition at alarming rates. While our community partners aren’t directly caught in the violence, they’re feeling the ripple effects. Food is scarce and expensive, and many families are fleeing Port-au-Prince to find refuge in rural villages. In these challenging times, our partners have stepped up, using their resilience and knowledge to create solutions, like community gardens and small farms.
One shining example is the Plain Matin community, where a small garden grew into a thriving farm, providing yams for local families and markets. This year, we are expanding this effort with agroecology training in four villages, helping farmers restore the soil and grow food sustainably.
Your support today through the Week of Giving can help us scale these efforts. Haiti H2O’s funding will enable us to expand farming initiatives and bring much-needed virtual agroecology training to rural communities, even as travel in Haiti remains dangerous. Participating in the Week of Giving offers a bonus donation for every dollar we raise ONLY THAT WEEK. Join us to more fully support our partners in Haiti!
