PAC-OC 8th Anniversary Double Match Fundraiser

It’s our 8th anniversary, and our toughest year yet. While these are difficult times for everyone, nonprofit funding has become very challenging, and costs are rising. Meanwhile, there is increased demand for our services.

To celebrate and help us keep our doors open, we have a donation match for the first $5,000 raised in the next ten days—thanks to two generous donors!

For the past three years we've been on our own, operating much like "The Little Engine that Could," because of our individual supporters and volunteers.

We've built community programs, including our partnerships for a pet food pantry, low-cost spay/neuter and wellness clinics, corporate events, volunteer opportunities and our sponsorship of the South County Pet Expo—making us the go-to South County community pet service provider.

At the same time, rather than being entirely the home-like rehabilitation/adoption center that we initially envisioned—for some of our dogs, like Lucas the Terrier (4 years at the PAC-OC) and Apple the Chihuahua—the constant interior redecorator, moving her beds to optimize the view (6 1/2 years at the PAC )—we are their sanctuary home. If we have to close our doors, they would have no place to go.

Apple is Queen of the Center, living the life she would have lost had we not rescued her from the county shelter in 2018. She was semi-feral and living in isolation. This video from 2018 shows the early part of her story.

After numerous failed meet-and greets, Apple told us she did not want to leave. She's now a senior with multiple medical issues, medications, and a prescription diet.
