Story
Peconic Community School has enjoyed an incredible start to an unprecedented year, and we couldn’t be more grateful. We are now more than ten weeks into an utterly unique and joyful outdoor in-person learning experience that continues the learner-centered, place- and project-based learning that means so much to our students.
Thanks to the support of this PCS community, we've expanded our campus, established magical outdoor classrooms, and created a new community around a growing student body. Spending these months together this fall – dodging the rain under the tents, circling for groups in the afternoon sun, exploring the new PCS East campus -- has been invaluable in helping us get to know and engage the students. We're finding out what lights them up, how they learn best, and who they are behind the masks.
With each passing day – every obstacle overcome, every friendship forged -- there's a more and more palpable sense of "we're in this together." And from that feeling, arises the kind of resilient, courageous and compassionate community that bolsters the spirits of all in its fold.
As we face the uncertainty of the coming months, we know that PCS students will be counting on this strong community to facilitate their learning wherever it happens, to support them as friends even from afar, and to remind them that they are an important part of something special. The students need PCS now more than ever.
And we need you.
