The rich, nuanced narratives of Appalachia remain scattered, overlooked, and often untold. Without a dedicated platform, the region's complex cultural stories risk being forgotten, misrepresented, or lost entirely. Sometimes individual authors or stories break through. But they often have more to say about contemporary publishing than the region they purport to represent.

Appalachia Book Company is dedicated to giving opportunities to Appalachian writers who live outside, geographically and culturally, the elite world of publishing. We level the publishing playing field, giving access to writers who might otherwise struggle to reach an audience.
