On April 15, 2012, my life was forever altered by an attack on our Forward Operating Base, instigated by a VBIED. The injuries I sustained not only inflicted physical wounds but also deeply impacted my mental well-being. For years, I grappled with the aftermath until a pivotal moment occurred during a Veterans Day race at a local BMX track.
Traditional methods of rehabilitation and recovery seemed insufficient in addressing the profound challenges I faced. However, through the unorthodox avenue of participating in BMX racing, I discovered a powerful catalyst for rebuilding myself. It was a journey marked by resilience, determination, and the unwavering support of my community.
Motivated by my own transformative experience, I embarked on a mission to extend this lifeline of hope to fellow wounded veterans who were navigating similar struggles, particularly those grappling with the invisible wounds of PTSD, and their families. Thus, the Purple Heart Racing Project was born. We now have an offical 501c3 nonprofit and will launch our website very soon.
Our initiative is dedicated to providing tangible support to veterans in need, offering avenues for rejuvenation and healing that extend beyond conventional methods. Through grants encompassing BMX and MTB bicycles, free climbing gear, surfboards, skateboards, and beyond, we aim to empower individuals to reclaim their sense of purpose, joy, and vitality.
In this spirit, I implore you to join us in our mission to uphold the promise of care and recovery for our veterans. Together, let us ensure that those who have sacrificed so much in service to our nation are met with the unwavering support and resources they deserve as they embark on their journey toward renewal and resilience. Your contribution, no matter the size, holds the power to make a profound difference in the lives of those who have bravely served.
