Building Hope from the Inside Out: Launching School Mental Health Clubs Across Uganda

This project was by a group of young adults in Uganda that have experiences hard reality that in many schools across Uganda, children and teens are silently battling anxiety, trauma, and depression with no support and no safe space to talk about what they’re going through. Mental health remains one of the most overlooked challenges in our education system, yet it's one of the most urgent.

We believe every child deserves not only an education, but also the tools to understand, process, and strengthen their mental and emotional well-being. That’s why we’re launching school-based Mental Health Clubs, safe, student-centered spaces led by trained volunteers where youth can talk, create, share, and heal together.

These clubs will do more than just raise awareness, they will build resilience, reduce stigma, provide referrals for care, and help students develop life skills through arts, drama, peer connection, and culturally relevant support. It’s a grassroots solution with a generational impact. Started by a group of young adults who currently reside in East Africa and are partnering with a Non-Profit founded in California by a Ugandan and native Californian.

Develop arts-based and culturally grounded mental health programming
Provide tools, books, and resources for student mental health clubs
Launch in the first 15 schools across East Africa where the need is greatest
