November 8th, 2019, I received the dreaded call with the news, you have breast cancer. I had surgery in 2019, and in 2020, 3 months of chemo infusions, a year of targeted infusions every 3 weeks and a month of daily radiation. What a year, Cancer and Covid and I couldn’t row during treatment! Breast cancer has touched my life in many ways. My Mom died of breast cancer at the age of 57, two weeks to the day before my youngest son, David, was born. I have shared in the path of friends and family who have survived this cancer and, also, sadly lost a treasured friend this summer to cancer. I will be rowing in the Pink Ribbon Row on Sunday, September 22nd, on Lake Union to help support local programs to assist and guide others who find themselves on their own breast cancer path.
