Did you know that approximately one-third of adult Chicagoans read at third grade level or lower? Literacy Chicago's mission is to change that.

There are a number of ways to raise awareness and to help the cause of empowering adult Chicagoans:

You can share this video with our Director of Program Development, Joanne Telser-Frere, who talks about volunteers' important role in our work with adults.
You can volunteer to tutor American adults learning to read, immigrants learning to read and speak English, and our GED, Citizenship, and workforce development students.
You can share a valuable skillset with our adult learners. Contact us directly to learn more.
