Updates from adopters is our fuel! It's what it's all about and keeps us striving to create more happy tails! Enjoy just a few from the past year and some lovely words from the lucky families. Thanks to all that helped make them possible. Here's to many many more.

Crash: We are kicking things off with a Happy Tail, featuring a little guy that keeps giving back to PWP. Crash came to PWP as a very wee kitten and he needed a foster family to help him grow big enough for adoption. Well, he hit the absolute jackpot with the very best foster family. Even though they have fostered hundreds other kittens, he stole their heart and found a forever family there instead (with two alumni sisters!) Now Crash and crew continue to share their home with other felines needing some extra TLC before adoption! We are so appreciative of all the love given in our foster homes! Please visit www.petswithoutparents.net to apply if you'd like to foster too.

Turner: Our next Happy Tail features Turner! This fan favorite was a dignified senior gentleman upon his arrival to PWP. It took some real work to get Turner feeling good again. We were able to regulate his hyperthyroidism and teach him to the be the bestest pill taker. Now adopted by a volunteer, Turner spends his time as a tutor, looking dapper, and getting his beauty rest.

Dewey: Hi PWP family!
This is Dewed "Dewey" and boy has he had an exciting year!
Dewey joined our family after we lost one of our dogs two year ago. Our remaining dog, and our family really missed having another sweet pooch and after a good first meeting with our senior dog we were excited to welcome him to our family!
Dewey has been busy learning his manners and attending training classes with all his two legged family members. Our kids love clicker training with him, and he loves working for snacks. When not chewing all of his toys Dewey loves to play fetch...even though letting go of the ball remains elusive.
Dewey is the 5th pet we have adopted from PWP and we are happy to support them in their mission to find furever homes for all the pets in their care.
We hope that this giving Tuesday you consider PWP as a charity of choice for your donation dollars. If you aren't able to donate now, you can always make an impact by donating your Kroger Community Rewards by setting PWP to receive benefits from your everyday shopping! Animal shelters are lifelines—safe havens where countless dogs and cats wait for the chance to feel loved, protected, and finally home. Their importance becomes clear when you meet an animal whose entire world has been shaped by the patience and compassion of a rescue. Juno, our beloved red pitbull mix, is one of those animals.
We first met Juno by accident. We’d accompanied a friend who was looking at a puppy, and there she was—sitting quietly in her kennel, her deep amber eyes filled with a kind of desperate hope. She’d been at the shelter for four long years.
We couldn’t stop thinking about her. That same evening, we submitted our adoption application.
Bringing her home felt like opening a door she had been waiting at for years. Juno fit into our routine as if she had always been part of it. She bonded instantly with our other dog and quickly made it clear that her heart was big enough for everyone—especially our 11-year-old granddaughter, whom she absolutely adores. At 70 pounds, she insists on being a lapdog, eager to share affection with anyone willing to accept it. She is gentle, joyful, and loved by everyone she meets.
Juno’s transformation from overlooked shelter dog to cherished family member is only possible because the shelter cared for her until we found her. Shelters don’t just save animals—they preserve possibilities, protect second chances, and keep hope alive until the right family walks through the door.
We cannot imagine life without Juno. And with your support, more animals like her can get the chance they deserve.

One of my favorite spots now is the coffee shop, where I get to enjoy a tasty pup cup and meet new people. My one mommy walks me there once per week.
I’m really looking forward to going to obedience school next year—can’t wait to learn not to jump on people when I get super excited. I know I’m a good pup at heart, just in need of a little guidance. Overall, I absolutely love my new home and hope all my buddies at the shelter find theirs soon too.
I am sharing some pictures, they are embarrassing but my moms say I look cute.
