Who We Are

The Suncoast WaterWorks Synchronized Swimming Team was formed in 1985 by Karen Paulk, who has since retired but continues to mentor coaches and swimmers. Since 1985, SWW has developed into one of the premier clubs in Florida, consistently having nationally ranked swimmers. As the only year-round competitive synchronized swimming program in Pinellas County, SWW consists of swimmers from all over the Tampa Bay area. Through the commitment of our esteemed coaches, devoted swimmers, and engaged parents, SWW offers a multi-level program that boasts success at the novice, intermediate, and advanced levels.

What will our funding be used for? Good question!

Last year we brought home medals or ribbons in all age groups we sent to the National Junior Olympics! In order to maintain this esteemed level of competitiveness, the SWW girls have been working hard preparing for this year’s exciting season. The home pool at Southwest Rec Center is Olympic size, 17 feet deep and allows for plenty of space to travel (a required part of all excellent synchro routines). This pool is closed for repairs until June. While the team has secured use of a new pool, it is not as spacious. Along with the fees to rent our temporary home pool, the team will need to rent additional time at a large pool prior to competitions so that the swimmers can practice their routines utilizing the full amount of space required to perform at meets. Estimated cost: $500

While all competitions are important, some are required for our advanced swimmers to qualify for the National Junior Olympics which are held yearly around the country, a major goal! The competition for 2025 will be held in Arlington, TX. While each swimmer will be responsible for their own travel costs, the board would like to help offset as many of the food and/or local transportation costs while in Texas. This fundraiser would also help pay for the travel expenses for the coaches attending this competition. Estimated cost: $2,500

The most impactful piece of equipment the team would love to utilize is a waterline camera. This camera is mounted along the pool's edge and captures action both above and below the waterline! Think Olympic footage! Pretty amazing tech! This would allow for coaching and training to be incredibly efficient. The investment for this technology would include the equipment as well as the labor required for permanent installation of the camera and future maintenance. Estimated cost: $12,000

Our team was improved last year in many ways thanks to your generous donations. Here are a few ways we used the money:

Thanks to our generous donations last year, we were able to purchase an in-pool communication system for each swimmer to wear at competitions. This gives the coaches and swimmers a way to communicate during those chaotic and busy warmups. $2,000

Thanks to your support, we were able to send 5 coaches to the Junior Olympics in Portland, OR. This meant that our swimmers were all supported during every event and practice. We believe this played a role in how well our swimmers performed in every event they competed. $2,000

Additional pool space was secured for our swimmers when the Southwest Pool closed. $1,000
