The John T. O’Connor Senior Center, located in Caswell Park, is an activity center that provides a place where seniors can not only add years to their lives but add life to their years. The Center serves Knox County residents age 50 and over. There is no membership fee to attend the Center, although some classes may have a fee to support the cost of the class. Programs at the Center focus on health services, physical fitness and exercise, recreation, and education.

The effects of COVID-19 have been felt in our facility and all of the lives of our participants. It has always been our goal to be a support system for the older adults in our community and that need has been predominant over the past year. During partial closure of the O'Connor Senior Center we have answered the call of seniors in Knox County who are in need of resources such as tax preparation assistance, health related screenings such as toenail clipping and blood glucose checks, exercise, food assistance and social interaction. Staff have remained in the facility to answer these calls and provide essential services safely.

The O'Connor Pancake Fest has become an annual event that spotlights our  activities and amazing participants while giving an opportunity for community fellowship. To protect everyone involved, we have decided to turn this year's event into a drive-thru expo! General admission tickets will be $5.00 per person and include a box of pancakes (gluten free and sugar free options available), sausage and choice of juice, water, milk, or coffee.

After receiving your breakfast, we will have a designated "Park and Eat" lot with musical entertainment for your enjoyment, weather permitted, located at the end of Jessamine St..  This is a rain or shine event and all are encouraged to attend. General Admission tickets are available until Thursday, April 15. Curbside to go orders are also available and will be located at the Caswell Park baseball field complex across from the O'Connor Center on Winona St..  Volunteers will be located throughout the event to answer questions and direct traffic.
