The Filipino Community Center, Inc. (“FilCom”) invites you to join us in celebrating our 16th Annual Pasko sa FilCom (‘Christmas at FilCom’) on Saturday, December 3, 2022, 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. After two years of holding virtual Pasko celebrations, we return to FilCom, in-person, for Pasko sa FilCom: Pangarap, Pag-ibig at Pag-asa (‘Christmas at FilCom: Dream, Love and Hope’). As in the past we invite Filipinos and non-Filipinos to gather and experience the cultures and traditions of the Philippines and of Hawaii’s Filipino Americans.
This year the FilCom Center celebrates its 20th anniversary as a meeting place for Filipino organizations, functions and events as well as conducting numerous social, economic and educational programs. With community partners, we have implemented NCLEX nursing licensure review classes, computer and workforce training workshops, financial literacy seminars, U.S. citizenship classes, singing and dancing lessons, and martial arts classes. We also have an annual Filipino Fiesta event (the most attended FilCom event) and annual Kabataan: Filipino for Kids Program. For the past two years FilCom also has been the primary site for FilCom CARES, a COVID-19 response project providing COVID-19 consultation, testing, and vaccinations at FilCom and at partner sites throughout the State of Hawaii.
This year Filipino and non-Filipino community groups, organizations and individuals will gather to share their knowledge and talents in a day filled with singing, dancing, crafts, and cultural and public service exhibits. Pasko sa FilCom is a family-oriented event with activities for children. There will also be contests for creating parols, tabletop Christmas tree decorations and Paskoramas (dioramas). Singing events include Krismas Karaoke and caroling contests.
Since all of our activities are being planned and conducted by volunteers, we would like to ask for your financial assistance to defray some of the event costs. Our sponsorship form is attached describing the various financial assistance levels. This annual event attracts over 600 island residents and visitors. However, even if you are unable to become a sponsor or make a donation this year, please come to Pasko sa FilCom to celebrate the year, Philippine culture and the FilCom Center. We look forward to your participation.
Please call FilCom Center at (808) 680-0451 or email [email protected] for more details. I look forward to discussing Pasko sa FilCom with you.
