Post 543 strives to make a difference in people’s lives by enhancing the well-being of veterans, their families, and youth throughout our community. We are proud to provide direct support to active-duty service members and their families across Eastern North Carolina, while instilling patriotism and citizenship through education and leadership initiatives with local schools and institutions.

Our Post Service Team works more than 100 cases each year, helping veterans navigate the challenges of daily life and assisting with access to benefits through the Department of Veterans Affairs and other organizations. We also provide an Honor Guard to ensure honorably discharged veterans receive the full Military Honors they have earned upon burial or interment.

Post 543 proudly supports American Legion softball and baseball programs, which teach sportsmanship, teamwork, and citizenship while offering supervised, competitive recreation for boys and girls, as well as young men and women. These efforts continue our mission of building stronger communities by honoring service, fostering leadership, and supporting those who serve our nation.
