A note from Pat:

This year for my milestone birthday, in lieu of presents I am asking my friends and family to make a gift to United Way of Virginia's Blue Ridge.

This celebration is in memory of my daughter, Lauren Alexandra who taught us to appreciate life and in honor of my son, Murray III (M3), who was my 27th birthday gift! M3 will be celebrating his 33rd birthday later this month.

Lauren had a heart that overflowed with compassion and a deep commitment to serving others. Whether she was nurturing preschoolers with patience and joy or offering meals to those experiencing homelessness, she gave selflessly and without hesitation. Her legacy is one of kindness, generosity, and an unwavering love for her community. This is why I am excited to support United Way based on their mission and connection to helping our fellow neighbors. I could not think of a better way to honor my children and celebrate my birthday than to ask each of you to join me and support this worthy cause.

Your donation to United Way of Virginia’s Blue Ridge goes towards their Impact Fund. The United Way Impact Fund is one of the most powerful ways to support communities throughout Viriginia’s Blue Ridge. This fund provides annual program grants to nearly 30 local non-profit organizations working on the front lines of their 16-county service area in addition to United Way direct services. One donation to the Impact Fund supports a variety of programs such as Boys and Girls Club of SW VA; CHIP; West End Center; New Horizon Healthcare; CYP at St. John’s; Family Services of Roanoke Valley; Bradley Free Clinic; Rescue Mission of Roanoke; Total Action for Progress (TAP); Presbyterian Community Center (PCC); and many more.
