This concert begins in Italy with a composer famous for his appetite-whetting overtures, Giacomo Rossini, and then moves to Germany with Haydn at the summit of his compositional powers in his famous London Symphony. Next, we move to Czechoslovakia and the lavish melodic lines of Antonin Dvorak’s Silent Woods for solo cello and orchestra.

Southern California virtuoso, Jacob Braun, will be featured in this work and then close the program with one of the most beloved pieces of the cello repertoire – Tchaikovsky’s Rococo Variations.

There will be a pre-concert lecture presented by Joe Payne that will enhance your enjoyment and understanding of the music. This Pre-Concert Lecture is FREE and open to all concert goers. The lecture will be held just before the concert, beginning at 6:50PM and ending at 7:10PM.
