In the early morning hours of April 16, 2025, Ola's life was cut short in an act of violence that has left his family devastated and a community in mourning.

The Tragedy

In the early morning of April 16, 2025, Ola, 77, was waiting to pick up a rider outside Byblos Hookah Lounge in Center City Philadelphia. A dispute broke out between his passenger and two men from a dark‑colored Jeep Grand Cherokee. Gunfire erupted. Ola was struck in the back of the head yet still managed to steer his SUV a short distance before crashing into a light pole on Chestnut Street, where he was pronounced dead. The suspects remain at large.
