Phoenix Rising 2026
Call to Action
For over 40 years, Phoenix School has been a cornerstone of education, workforce development, and youth engagement in Douglas County. Phoenix’s mission is clear: keep youth engaged, employed, and empowered through hands-on learning, paid work experiences, and positive mentorship. Phoenix has always prided itself on providing a safe, supportive place for Douglas County youth ages 16–26 to reengage in education, build job readiness skills, and find pathways to success, economic independence, and community contribution.
Today, we are stepping into an exciting new chapter. Alongside our continued work with youth and workforce development, we are launching the Phoenix Early Learning Center, supporting young children (ages 6 weeks through school-aged) and their families through safe and inclusive care through early learning and intervention, thus building strong foundations for the future. Our program uses an emergent, play-based curriculum designed to support joyful and meaningful learning. This child-centered approach encourages curiosity, exploration, problem-solving, and critical thinking while building confidence and resilience in our children. Our Center accepts ERDC and Cow Creek subsidies as well as provides scholarship opportunities to help support Douglas County families. This new venture not only supports working families, but it also strengthens the goals of Phoenix to offer pre-apprenticeship programs to support local industry and educational entities in training the next generation of skilled workers in the Trades. Programs such as early childhood development and education (in cooperation with Umpqua Community College), welding, plumbing, facilities maintenance, forestry, fuels reduction, farm and garden operations, and culinary arts will provide opportunities for youth to learn the skills needed to successfully enter the workplace. Phoenix WORKS (Workforce Opportunities & Readiness with Knowledge and Skills) will provide a pipeline of young adults who have gained on the job experience and are able to be an engaged, productive part of society. Please consider supporting the Phoenix Early Learning Center and Phoenix WORKS by donating today!

Commitment to Youth and Community
In recent years, Phoenix has expanded its reengagement and workforce pathways, making them a cornerstone of its nonprofit model. Through grants, key partnerships, and community collaboration, Phoenix continues to meet the needs of opportunity youth — from credit recovery and reengagement to workforce training.
Phoenix is here to connect young people with the skills, experiences, and support they need to succeed — and we welcome the community to be part of that mission.
Our 11-acre Campus boasts a 30,000-square-foot building on Diamond Lake Blvd. that is equipped to meet the diverse needs of the youth and community we serve:
12 classrooms, large conference rooms, and 10 office spaces for staff, tutoring, and meetings currently available for lease.
Two floors with an elevator, fully ADA accessible
Large commercial kitchen and separate smaller kitchen for culinary programming

Two STEAM learning trailers - a 24-foot food cart, and pizza oven
