Piggie Toes and Health Checks! Give a Pig a Lift!

Everyone needs mani-pedis! Seriously, hoof trims are vital to whole-body health when you put all your weight on them, all day, every day! Trims are vital to the well-being of every pig at the Sanctuary. We have worked hard to do the trimming with the "lay on the ground" method, but it is not efficient and not as effective for some of our pigs - to be honest.

For three years, we have watched the use of lifts at other pig-centric sanctuaries. We have learned from them, and planned. Shelter Manager Mike has been communicating with several sanctuaries, and the manufacturer, and we are ready to take this next step to help our rescue pigs!

We don't purchase large pieces of equipment without a lot of research! We have a temporary wood solution built quickly for us for $1000 to allow for Penny Blossom pig's chemotherapy treatments. But the toenails really get the most consistent treatment in a lift. A local microsanctuary can use our wooden pig chute for vaccinations, so we look forward to gifting it to them to help their big pigs. We try to help others!

Seven large pigs (yes Louie too) and then also the two Kune Kune sisters will benefit right now. Plus all the future pig rescues at the Sanctuary will get to use this!

We have selected the Spanier Welding and Metal Works Feet First Lift from Minnesota which can be shipped here. It is built to last and will be stored in the Alpaca Barn to keep the weather away from it. 1100 pounds!!!

Pigs steal the hearts of everyone who meet them here, each one is a unique personality!

Penny Blossom is super smart and picky! Her chemotherapy will continue with the Lift.
Danny Boy is the lead boy in the paddock but full of love for his friends (human and piggie)
Osa is queen of the paddock and at 8 years old, we need to treat her arthritis and more.
Amelia may have a hard time seeing with her ear-umbrellas on her face, but she is a gentle soul.
Dougie is a rambunctious and playful guy who loves Nellie!
Nellie is a sweet gal who gets along with everyone.
Louis is still a baby but rapidly growing. He has been visiting the big guys and soon will leave with them
Belladonna is a joy to know and she lives for belly rubs. And breakfast.
Mirabella is a cutie who is always seeking human attention. And breakfast!
