Stuart Spencer's Story

I'm Playing It Forward for the NCTC High School Play Festival and I hope you will join me by making a donation today! My NCTC story began in 1996 when I attended and performed in my first NCTC High School Play Festival, representing Charles D. Owen High School in Black Mountain, NC. 28 years and a lot less hair later, I still remember the excitement of rehearsing for weeks, loading up the truck, and hitting to road to our regional location... as well as the rush of adrenaline at "your time starts, now!" and the roaring applause as we made our way off the stage for adjudication. For many high school students, the play festival represents their first time "taking the show on the road" and performing for new friends across the state. It's a chance to perform for their peers, proudly represent their schools, and showcase the hard work and dedication they have put into their show. They receive valuable feedback from industry professionals that they can take with them to their next performance, their next production, or even their next step in life... all while celebrating high school theatre over 3 awesome, jam-packed weekends! Since my own high school days, I have served as a volunteer, host, and adjudicator for both the high school and middle school festivals. I have seen first hand the excitement and sense of accomplishment these festivals bring. I am proud to Play it Forward for NCTC High School Play Festival. Thank you for your support!
