In Lebanon, a poor country impacted drastically by the 2020 explosion and the ramifications of COVID-19, is dealing with a new crisis. While medication has started to flow back to the country, the prices have quadrupled. As a result, individuals with chronic diseases are splitting pills to use 1 pill to last them for 2 days. Some cannot even afford the medications, which led to our volunteers burying a significant number of elderly citizens in 2022. Those supporting from overseas with sending medications are now dealing with Customs, who have become very strict regarding people bringing in more that 5 boxes of medications at a time. To combat this limitation, Allied Cultures will be distributing cash aid for medication costs so that each individual can have enough to purchase two medications for each month.

In addition to medication matters, plenty of people who are getting hospitalized are dying in hospital emergency rooms because they don’t have enough money to be admitted to the hospital. If the total amount is not covered, they are being kept in the hospital until the full amount is paid, with each day of stay also being charged.

This fundraising campaign will be utilized exclusively to fulfill this unmet need in Lebanon.
