A-Salem is a grassroots non-profit organization in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. This organization whose name is derived from the Hebrew word Salem, meaning peace was born from a deep personal mission by its founder Alice Apendeke - to bring peace, dignity, and support to those who have none.

A-Salem is a lifeline for children who have been orphaned, displaced families, and women & children survivors of war and violence.

A-Salem provides food, water, clothing, shelter, educational support & school fees, job skills training, and more.

They aren't receiving any funding or support. Their team consists of Alice her son Robby and four dedicated staff members all rooted in the community they serve - Kinganga & Bita.

The Mobondo Militia has been waging war against civilians in the Bita region that A-Salem supports. The children in the image above were forced to flee their homes with just the clothes on their backs. A-Salem never turns anyone away and with the influx of women and children they are in desperate need of food, clothing, bedding and a means to assist the refugees with the trauma that they have endured.

This Giving Tuesday help us make sure these children are able to have a meal everyday at a time when missing a meal is a matter of life and death.

A-Salem was able to provide rice, powdered milk, maize, sugar, wheat, vegetable oil, soja for 94 children every month at $4.86 per child. School fees are $37.50 per month. With the influx of women and children so much more is needed and your assistance will make a huge difference.
