"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has."
~Margaret Mead
NELCWIT's work is deeply personal, and I am honored to be among the ranks of people who have committed themselves to a world free from violence. Domestic and sexual violence are societal issues, and they impact every community. Margaret Mead's quote describes perfectly how NELCWIT came to be. Four women decided enough was enough, and they mobilized their community to come together in support of survivors at a time when domestic violence was not culturally considered to be an issue. Their dedication to the survivors and every person in their community built a beautiful coalition that impacted real change. Today, we continue their work, and Power to Persevere is a chance to celebrate the generations who have fought for survivors.
We are in an era of great change, and I plan to join my NELCWIT colleagues and our community supporters in pushing for a world free from violence.
Please consider attending this event and donating to celebrate survivors' perseverance and honor the power of community!
