Stories of Reproductive Choice
Thu, May 2 7:00 PM – Fri, May 3 7:00 PM MDT
In Person
The Pro-Voice Project is partnering with community members of McCall Idaho (Amy Rush, Caitlin Gustafson, Melissa Newell, Sidney Bateman, Melissa Daniels, Kirsten Azoulay, Kaitlin Parsons, Judy Anderson, and Kilmeny) to create our version of "The Abortion Diaries", a stage production of Idaho residents’ personal stories of reproductive agency. The performance will bring the subject of abortion out of the realm of shadow and share real-life examples of how this decision touches people’s lives. It will also address the fallout from Idaho’s restrictive and punitive abortion laws and provide context for the history and future of the fight for reproductive justice. This stage production will be followed by a moderated panel discussion with regional healthcare providers and advocates, highlighting how we best help women in our community, both personally and politically. Panelists will cover the current state of abortion laws in Idaho and how they affect the relationship between physician and patient, in addition to how we can promote empathy and education; generating understanding on a human level and a legal one. Join us in changing the conversation and, eventually, the laws. Join us in showing that this erosion of rights will not be met with silence.
