Sometimes we joke with friends and family about making it to one hundred years old, and for that adrenaline junkie friend, we might even tease them about making it to 40. But what about 18 or even 14?

It's not an age that many of us would consider being a meaningful moment, but for a child that has endured a life of trauma, making it to another birthday is something exceptional.

During a presentation, a student disclosed to our educator that they had been abused for years. Not only had they suffered abuse from multiple people, but they felt broken emotionally and mentally; they had lost all hope in themselves.

Our educator quickly took action and was able to get them the help they desperately needed.

We received a note from the student months after last talking to them. They just wanted to let us know that they were removed from their home, and it was scary, but they were safe for the first time because of us.

A month later they emailed us saying their birthday was in a few weeks, and they were so happy they made it to another birthday. Without us, they said, it would never have happened, and for that they’ll always remember us.

But what they don't know is that we could not do what we do without the support of all of you. Your support truly does change lives, and you helped this student make it to another year. YOU gave them hope! Let’s do that for every student we reach!
