Protect the Parks

The Irish Hills faces a serious threat: a proposed gravel mining operation adjacent to Watkins Lake State Park. We are concerned about potential impacts on Watkins' water, wildlife, fragile ecosystems, hunting and fishing lands, and peaceful character. We are also concerned that the mine's haul route could seriously impact Hayes State Park, bringing 18 trucks/hour, 5.5 days/week down Wamplers Lake Road between the campground and the boat launch - for 20 years.

Your donation to IHCC will help: 1) Ensure that the proposal is reviewed by credentialed, impartial experts; 2) Build a legal defense fund; 3) Mobilize Irish Hills residents, businesses and organizations, as well as state park advocates throughout Michigan.

We are committed to protecting our parks. Join us!
