For over 50 years, the Austin Youth Orchestra (AYO) has been a cornerstone of Austin's cultural life, providing a space for hundreds of young musicians to learn, grow, and perform. Each season, we bring together 250–300 students from first grade through high school, representing communities from all across the greater Austin area.

Our seven-orchestra program provides a complete musical pathway, meeting students where they are and guiding them toward artistic excellence. Through weekly rehearsals, sectional coaching with professional musicians (including members of the Austin Symphony), and performances in professional concert halls, our students develop technical skill, discipline, and a lifelong love of music.

But AYO is more than music. It’s a community where young people from all backgrounds build confidence, learn teamwork, and find their artistic voice.
