Why We Need a Gymnasium at Robert F. Munroe Day School

At Robert F. Munroe Day School, we believe in educating the whole student: mind, body, and spirit. While our students excel in academics, leadership, and the arts, we are limited in the athletic and wellness opportunities we can provide without a dedicated, on-campus gymnasium.

A new gym would be far more than a sports facility. It would be a community hub, a safe and inspiring space for physical education classes, team practices, school assemblies, fine arts performances, community events, and emergency shelter when needed.

Currently, our athletic programs and student activities are restricted by weather, transportation to offsite venues, and limited space. A modern gym would:

Expand athletic opportunities for all grades, from early learners discovering movement to competitive high school teams preparing for championships.

Support health and wellness education by providing year-round space for physical fitness, adaptive PE, and wellness initiatives.

Foster school spirit and unity by giving our Bobcat community a central space to gather, celebrate, and cheer one another on.

Serve the broader community as a venue for events, fundraisers, and emergency relief efforts.

Building a gymnasium is not just about bricks and mortar. It is an investment in our students’ physical health, confidence, teamwork skills, and overall well-being. It is about creating a place where every student can feel the pride of wearing our colors, hear the roar of the crowd, and know they belong to something bigger than themselves.

With your help, we can give our students and our community the facility they deserve, a place to grow stronger, dream bigger, and reach higher.
