The Georgia Rural Hospital Tax Credit Program (HEART) allows individuals and businesses to support qualified rural hospitals while receiving a dollar-for-dollar state tax credit. This means your donation costs you nothing — but provides everything our patients need.

This program simply allows you to take the money you already owe for state taxes and redirect it to an eligible rural hospital, such as Jeff Davis Hospital. It’s a great way to make a transformational difference in rural healthcare in our community at no extra expense to you.

Step-by-step guide

Submit your pre-application: Go to www.georgiaheart.org and complete the HEART Tax Credit Form online.
Wait for approval: Georgia HEART will submit your form to the Georgia Department of Revenue (DOR). You will receive an email with your approved tax credit amount and a deadline for payment.
Choose a payment method: You can either:
- Send a check to Georgia HEART, made out to your designated rural hospital.
- Make an online payment through an ACH transfer. You will need your DOR Certificate Number to access the online payment portal.
Receive your tax receipt: Georgia HEART will report your contribution to the DOR and send you a tax receipt, which you will use to claim the credit when you file your Georgia income taxes.
