Help Build the QueensWay!

For more than a decade, Friends of the QueensWay (FQW) has worked alongside residents, community organizations, elected officials, businesses and public agencies to transform a long-abandoned rail corridor into a vibrant 3.5-mile linear park and cultural greenway connecting Central Queens. Today, that vision is closer than ever to becoming reality, with construction on the first phase of the QueensWay expected to begin in late 2026.

The QueensWay will create new opportunities for recreation, walking, biking, environmental education, community gathering, and cultural programming while connecting neighborhoods from Rego Park to Ozone Park. The project will provide much-needed open space, improve access to parks and schools, support healthier lifestyles, and strengthen connections between communities throughout Central Queens.

Your contribution to Friends of the QueensWay will help us continue the work that has brought the project this far and ensure its long-term success. Donations support two critical priorities:

Advocacy and Project Advancement

Building public support for the completion of the full 3.5-mile QueensWay;
Community outreach and engagement;
Partnerships with government agencies, civic organizations, and local stakeholders;
Efforts to secure public and private funding for future phases of the park.

Community Programming and Stewardship

Educational, environmental, arts, and cultural programs;
Community events, tours, and volunteer activities;
Youth engagement and outdoor learning opportunities;
Initiatives that ensure the QueensWay reflects and celebrates the diversity of Queens.

Since its founding in 2011, Friends of the QueensWay has hosted more than 150 community events and engagement activities while advocating for the creation of what will become one of New York City's most transformative new public spaces. The organization also just hired its first-ever executive director, who will spearhead the initiatives listed above.

Together, we can create a greener, healthier, and more connected Queens for generations to come.
