On September 30th I will embark on my 6th Ride Allegheny charity bicycle ride, departing Pittsburgh, PA and riding 310 miles over 4 days to Gaithersburg, MD to raise money for Operation Second Chance (OSC). This outstanding charity organization provides critical support services to our service men and women and their families who have sacrificed so much to protect the liberties we enjoy every day.
To say this past year has been challenging for us all is an understatement. For my family, the Covid 19 pandemic has tested us in ways we never would have imagined. I must be honest; it’s been very hard for me to get motivated about Ride Allegheny this year with all that’s been going on. So much has changed in our world and I’ve found myself questioning if I wanted to commit to it again. Hell, I’ve been questioning a lot of things. When I reflect on this past year however, I’m reminded that although things were tough, we are extremely fortunate. Things could have been much worse.
As recent events have shown in Afghanistan, our service members still face dangers, still sacrifice, and still pay a heavy toll to ensure our liberties. When I think about what these brave men and women do for all of us every day, and what they have been sacrificing for not just during pandemic times, but all the time, I am humbled and admittedly ashamed I haven’t gotten off my ass to get going for Ride Allegheny. This changes today. Once again, as in years past, I ask for your support. Please consider a donation of any size or amount in support of OSC by supporting me. $.90 of every dollar you donate will help OSC provide critical support services to our heroes and their families. Services such as financial assistance, furbishing prosthetics, retreats, and so much more, are examples of what OSC provides.
I’ve got some work to do, and I need your help!
