Imagine a life born and bred in the harsh environment of the Louisiana State Penitentiary, commonly known as Angola Prison, notorious for its brutal conditions. This is the reality that Rat and Alice, two innocent souls, faced until recently.
Rat, known by his prison name, and Alice shared a close bond as they endured years of exploitation within the prison walls. Forced to work tirelessly, Rat aged out at 10, and both faced the grim fate of slaughter. The Angola Prison, once labeled "America's Bloodiest Prison," is the largest maximum-security prison in the nation. At Angola, some prisoners spend eight hours a day training horses to face chaotic situations, from controlling crowds to helping break up riots. These horses, like Rat and Alice, also work at the prison farm, cultivating fields, controlling weeds, and hauling wagons and equipment. They are also used in the prison rodeos. Sadly, many end up being sold at auctions, with a high risk of falling into the hands of kill buyers for slaughter.
Rat and Alice, having endured years of exploitation, were on the brink of facing a terrifying fate at the slaughterhouse. Their stories came to light, and Randy stepped in to save them. Today, we embark on a journey to bring them to a ranch where they can experience a new life, free from the exploitation they've known.
