Our Read-With-Me-A-Thon is a new fundraiser this year. We want to do something to raise money, while benefitting our children's growth. We hope you will see this as an opportunity to read with your John Knox Co-Op Preschooler whether it is in person or over a video call! Let's make this a FUN experience for our children, get them excited to read, and support our phenomenal preschool.

A bit from behind the scenes...

As we began the school year, the teachers at John Knox Co-Op Preschool scrambled to create a staffing plan that met the children’s needs, met Alameda County Public Health COVID protocols and nurtured our children in these odd times. They knew that the preschool would be providing more of a full-service preschool experience for a smaller number of children “in-person” (60% enrollment); thus, going over budget each month.

Sadly, our annual silent auction which is usually our biggest fundraiser was cancelled due to COVID and many of our donors are struggling due to COVID, too. Our restaurant, pie and candy fundraisers have provided some additional income, but we have had to reach deep into our reserves to carry us through. Unfortunately, we are still losing money each month. We want to decrease this deficit. The funds garnered from the Read-With-Me-A-Thon will really help the preschool make ends meet.
