Grace Montana's Story

I'm a kid who has been growing up in libraries.

Libraries provide resources to everyone and anyone. Libraries are spaces where you're free to be yourself. Everyone is welcome in libraries. You don't have to have money to go to libraries.

My family and I go to libraries for just about everything. Upcoming road trip? We borrow audiobooks. Family movie night? We borrow movies (some libraries even give candy and popcorn). Family game night? Libraries have so many board games. We've borrowed pasta makers, pompom makers, DIY jewelry kits, parachutes for the backyard and even an umbrella one time. And of course... BOOKS!

I've met so many wonderful people in libraries. My first friends were other babies I met at story time. I played with my friends at libraries, and made art and danced to music. I went to book clubs and learned about history and even how to knit from volunteers. I've taken really fun art classes at libraries. I've even held my own writing clubs with friends at the library. Library volunteers and workers have always been so kind, thoughtful and wonderful. They make me feel like I belong in libraries. One of my favorite librarians showed me how to go above and beyond in life.

I'd like to be a librarian when I'm older, among many other things. And chances are, I'll learn many of those "other things" at libraries.
